Wyoming Students NRECA Youth Tour

NRECA Youth Tour Brings Students to Nation’s Capitol

The 2017 National Rural Electric Cooperatives Association (NRECA) Youth Tour for high school students, who have participated in Energy Camp or Youth Camp, took place this June.

Nine students from across Wyoming were selected to attend, representing the following rural electric cooperatives: Bridger Valley Electric Association, Lower Valley Energy, Powder River Energy Corp, High West Energy, Wheatland Rural Electric Association and Niobrara Electric Association.

The students chosen to attend the Youth Tour this year were: Decker Anderson, Grace Anderson, Randall Griffith, KaeLee Haney, Makell Kaiser, Ashley Madsen, Braydon Saxton, Laine Vasko, and Emily Wright.

The trip lasted 7 days, where in addition to motivational speakers, leadership and governmental training, students had the opportunity to see several historic sites in the Washington D.C. area.  The trip concludes with a dance/fun night for all 1800 students from across the nation.

The students met with the Wyoming Congressional Delegation, visited Baltimore’s Fort McHenry and the National Aquarium, and attended a dinner theatre where the performance was Beauty and the Beast. They also attended a Washington Nationals baseball game, and toured many monuments and museums.

Students who are interested in participating next year, should contact Robin Feezer with WREA at rfeezer@wyomingrea.org.
